In the jungles of beautiful Costa Rica, the jaguar roams... They are both mighty and mysterious.
The unique big cats are fascinating. They love to fish and even swim, unusual for even a wild cat. Legend has it, the jaguars love fishing so much, they sometimes dangle by the tip of their tail in the water, using it like a fishing line to lure in their aquatic prey. They can swim impressive distances and have even been known to swim across the Panama Canal! They play, bathe and hunt in and around rivers, pouncing on fish in pooling waters and streams. They hunt and kill with only one strike and are the third largest cat in the world! Black panthers are actually black jaguars. They are becoming more and more threatened and their numbers are drastically being reduced mainly due to poachers. They are presantly found most in the pockets of rainforests in Central and South America.
They thrive in the swamp lands of Costa Rica and can actually roar like a lion!
