Just Around the Corner – there is always something more to see.
Anyone who has ever gone on a hike or a walk, a Sunday drive, or a road trip through country landscapes and mountain roads, know that there is something about the road turning the corner, just up ahead.
You can’t see where it’s going, and while you can guess, you’ll never know how the vista opens up until you take the next several steps, or keep driving, until you reach that corner and turn it. Perhaps there is . . . another corner, which is not an unusual situation with a country road.
But as you continue, corner after corner, step after step, you continue on an adventure through the landscape that brings its own reward: there are trees gently swooping over the road, there is wildlife glimpsed out of the corner of your eye, there is the sound of silence of the country landscape, a silence broken by the whispering of the breeze, the buzzing of insects, the warble of birds.
In the very act of continuing along the country road, moving from corner to corner to corner, you enter into a world that is worth being in just because it is: because it is peaceful, because it is beautiful, because it is filled with color and warmth and adventure.
Just Around the Corner, the artwork, invites the viewer into the country landscape of peace, beauty and tranquility. It is a reminder that life on earth is not urban, that the cityscape is not the essence of creation, and that normality does not consist of text messages and stopped traffic, gray carpeted office cubicles and re-runs of HGTV shows telling us how to order the very home in which we live.
Normality is nature. Normality is silence and peace. Normality is seeking adventure by walking, step by step, on the path set before us.
