Great capture, Michael. It is a very unusual bridge. Thanks for sharing the background history. Do you know why the roof is so high? is there big truck traffic over the bridge?

Michael Porchik replied:

Hi Charles, it is a pretty unique looking bridge. The opening for traffic is only 10 feet, it does look much taller in the picture though. Here is an image I took in the summer at a different angle. http://fineartamerica.com/featured/knox-bridge-michael-porchik.html

This is a fantastic shower curtain. I owned at one time a 1928 American LaFrance almost identical to this one.Loved that fire engine and this great representation is such a joy as a reminder of the one I owned. Nee dmore like this one

Love this shower curtain! It’s brightened our guest bathroom beyond words. We were in Monet’s garden in 2005 and it brings a smile to my face every time I go in there.

This was our first purchase from the site and we love it! It arrived quickly. We wanted something different for the guest bath and this art combined two of my husband's favorite things. The curtain has a quality feel to it and the design is bright I wasn't sure of the color combination at first (orangey red, navy, turquoise and a touch of black) but it works! We've received many compliments and chuckles. My only regret was not being able to fit the words on without using a border - I was unsure of the colors, etc. Bottom line is that we love what we received!!! LOVE it!

Artist's Description

The white color of the Knox covered bridge over Valley Creek in Valley Forge National Park stands in a pleasing contrast to the autumn foliage in the background.
This bridge is located on State Route 1016, Valley Spring Road in Valley Forge Park, Tredyffrin Township. The original bridge was built on this site in 1851 and destroyed by the flood of 1865 which resulted in the building of the second bridge. This structure was built by Robert Russell utilizing the Burr Arch, the length of the bridge is 65 feet and the width is 13 feet, it crosses Valley Creek and is in good condition opened to vehicle traffic. This bridge is named after Philander C. Knox (1855-1921) United States Senator from Pennsylvania and General Henry Knox (1750-1806) an officer quartered at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778. This bridge is Federally owned.

About Michael Porchik

Michael Porchik

I grew up in the country about 45 minutes northwest of Philadelphia. I tend to enjoy the simpler things in life, such as covered bridges, my fur pal Mundee, nature and photography. I am a mostly self taught photographer who isn't afraid to ask others about other techniques as I believe all artist can continue to learn and grow from the work of others. I am lucky enough to live in Chester County Pennsylvania which is home to quite a few covered bridges. I am hoping to one day finish photograhing all of the bridges in the county, after that I can move on to the surrounding counties. My wife and I adopted my Fur Pal Mundee 3 years ago, and I love being able to capture the intensity of the Border Collie species. I love dogs in...
