Description
This painting is titled KOIN Downtown. It is a colorful folk style painting representing the KOIN Center building located in downtown Portland, Oregon along with a few of the other high-rise buildings around it. I have placed a representation of the green vegetation and trees that are found throughout the city of Portland in the forefront of the artwork. I have taken the liberty to make the buildings funky in size and shape as well as very colorful. It is acrylic on paper with India ink applied in areas that I felt needed to be emphasized. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The KOIN Center is an entire city block. Its exterior is orange brick and trimmed with white limestone at the base. The pyramid looking top is crowned in blue and sets it apart from most of the other buildings giving it a much desired distinctive and easily recognizable look of its own. Originally the building was going to be named Fountain Plaza; however, because of its high profile occupant, KOIN television, the CBS affiliate in Portland, it became known as the KOIN Center or KOIN Tower.
