A great American artist! Norm Starks knows how to capture the simpler things in life on canvas in a very powerful way!

This is an exquisite painting and a beautifully-produced card. I have had several aviation-themed cards from FAA and this is of the same very high standard that I have become used to. Fabulous company to deal with and fast and secure shipping every time.

Artist's Description

Every year towards the end of May, the hula is celebrated at the Molokai Ka Hula Piko Festival (Molokai, the center of the dance). To the Hawaiian people, hula means something much deeper than a form of entertainment or a competition to gain reputation. It is their culture and ancient ways expressed in a dance that comes from within, from the center, the piko. The hula originated here on Molokai and every year I look forward to photographing my neighbors celebrating their culture.

About James Temple

I have lived in Hawaii for the past 16 years, 1200 feet above sea level, on the small rural island of Moloka'i. It is very quiet here, with only about 7,500 residents, sort of like living in a small town in the middle of the Pacific ocean. I appreciate the quiet life after spending 35 years in the advertising/design/illustration business in Chicago and San Francisco. I have always loved cooking. Eventually that love led me to a degree in the Culinary Arts. Since then I have designed and built a house, worked in restaurants, self-published three cookbooks, and took up photography. Now retired, I spend most of my time developing recipes and photographing them, plus researching and writing about Hawaii's culinary history on my food...
