Blue and Gold Macaws, breed in the tropics of South America from Panama south to Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay & Trinidad. They are intelligent and curious birds that like to explore and keep busy. Inquisitive by nature, they are always looking for new and interesting things to satisfy their curiosity, sometimes getting into mischief and have been known to nip a button from a visitors coat if it attracts them.
A Blue and Gold Macaw can reach 29.9"-33.9" long and weigh 2-3 lbs., making them one of the biggest parrots in the world, living up to 60 years of age and generally mating for life.
These magnificent creatures are truly from our Creator Gods hand and exemplify great royal majesty among birds. As I studied the characteristics of this amazing bird with its loyal family habit, along with their playful nature to be curious and at times easily delighted with the new, to the point of perhaps distraction, I was reminded of David the Psalmist in Ps. 86:11 when he prayed, Teach me your way, O Lord...and give me an undivided heart.
