Lady In The Yellow Hat is my fifth piece of Amedeo Modigliani Inspired series. I took my time on her, and she is becoming one of my favorite pieces.

Amedeo Modigliani led a tragic and difficult life. His success was like many artists not to come into fruition until after his death at age 35 from tuberculosis. He was a heavy drinker and drug user. It is believed his consumption of alcohol and drugs were his disguise to hide the disease. In those days a drunk by society could be tolerated, but to have tuberculosis was not. He became the epitome of the tragic artist, creating a posthumous legend almost as well known as that of Vincent van Gogh.

Today the Modigliani estate is one of the most problematic in the art world. His elongated portraits so distinctive to his work are the favorite of forgers, no inventory of his works is considered both trustworthy and complete. Sydne Archambault was born and raised in the Great state of Wyoming. She grew up in a home where art held a presence. Her mother Willie Jordan Misner studied under Birger Sandzen at Bethany College in Lindsberg Kansas. Art was her mother's passion and her passion passed to Sydne as a young girl. Twenty years ago Sydne wrote a children's story and decided to illustrate it. She discovered a software program Meta Creations Painter 5 and this began the journey in digital art. Painter had all the artist brushes, water colors, textures one would need without the clean up. As Painter has grown into Corel Painter 15, so has Sydne in her art and her passion to create.
