An eastern bluebird pauses on the thin branch of a wahoo, a small shrub of the eastern woodlands of the United States noted for its hot pink seed pods containing fiery red, pulpy seeds. Wahoo is an American Indian word; it is also called eastern burning bush for its red fall color and is related to the common landscaping plant of which most people are familiar.
