This is Highlands Hammock
State Park along the boardwalk
in the marsh.
Highlands Hammock is in
south-central Florida,
a natural glade
of shallow water and lakes
filled with cypress trees,
oaks, and palms.
Long strands of Spanish Moss
hangs from the tree limbs
and the cypress knees
catch the water as it rains
and from the bog below
to nourish the trees.
The water is teaming
with life, fish and turtles
and the occasional alligator.
The park is a natural oasis
with meandering trails
and boardwalks where one
can enjoy nature
at it's most natural best!
