The Hamptons are the name of a region on Long Island in Suffolk County, NY. The name derives from the cities Southampton, East Hampton, Westhampton, Bridgehampton and Hampton Bays. The Hamptons are approx 130 km ( Westhampton) and 230 km (Montauk) away from New York City.
But the Hamptons are of course much more than that. They are a symbol for lifestyle, for very expensive homes and villas of the super rich - and above all for beautiful beaches and inlays, cities and villages.
Important cities and villages are Westhampton, Westhampton Beach, West Hampton Dunes, Quogue, East Quogue, Hampton Bays, Southampton, North Sea, Water Mill, Bridgehampton, Sagaponack, North Haven, Sag Harbor, Georgica, East Hampton and Napeague.
