Memories of an ice cold Dr. Pepper on a long, hot Texas road trip! The remains of this vintage soft drink advertisement cling to a stucco wall of a long retired gas station. Dr. Pepper is a Texas institution, first served 1 December 1885 at Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, TX--one year prior to the 1886 introduction of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, GA. The soft drink concoction, created by pharmacist Charles Alderton, was a hit with customers who ordered a "Waco" at the Morrison's soda fountain. Store owner W. B. Morrison tabbed the 23 flavor drink Dr. Pepper. The drink made its national debut at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition.
