Description
The maple tree is symbolic in Canadian history. The leaf of the maple makes up a prominent part of the Canadian Flag. "The Maple Leaf Forever" is a song that used to be sung by students in Canadian schools almost as much as the official Canadian National Anthem. Maples over one hundred years old still line driveways and fence lines of century farms throughout rural Canada. The Maple also provides much of the canopy in Canadian towns and cities. For the pioneers who first settled Canada, and the United States, the maple was a source of fuel for cooking and heating homes and also provided and still provides the sap for making maple syrup and maple sugar. On top of all this, in the autumn, maples put on a spectacular display of dazzling color. This maple is in the very early stage for transforming from its spring and summer green foliage to its orange, red and yellow that is such a thrill to see each fall.
Photographed at Forks of the Credit Provincial Park in Caledon with a Canon EOS Mark III.
