Thanks so much for your compliments, Sue! I figure everyone has preferences - I love that. I'm so glad you're enjoying my work! Looking at your photos of horses, there's that area around the ears, the base of the ears, that I see you gravitating towards, and I enjoy that a lot. I haven't focused in on that spot on any of my horses, but I think I'd like to.

Eileen, just discovered your work and I love almost all of the pieces on here! I am especially drawn to the equine and dog images more than the others though, just a personal prefrrence for horses and dogs I guess. All your work is superb though. Good luck. Sues.

Thanks so much, Jodi!

I love how you get the darks so rich!!! Very nice!

Hey, Jennifer! Thanks for looking. I'd love to see a picture of Elli, if you have one. And thank you so much for starting the Form of the Horse group.

I know a horse who looks just like this named Elli.

Thanks so much, Judith! It means a lot to me to hear that you appreciate my horses. Horses were my first love, as an artist; as a child and teenager, I drew and drew and drew horses, and by now I've been drawing and painting them for over fifty years! (Actually, here's part of the secret - I identify with horses. Would rather watch them and imagine being them, than ride them...)

I don't paint horses, but I admire those who do. You seem to have gotten that sheen that is a part of a clean horse. I like your subtle rendering of the background also.

What makes Kim Niles art so wonderful is not just her amazing talent, but also her compassion. Losing a best fur friend is very difficult, but Kim's Rainbow Bridge Angels truly bring some comfort. Thank you Kim for being you.

The print is beautiful. We repurposed an old frame and had a lovely mat cut to fit. We are very happy with our purchase. My husband was a seasonal Ranger at Crater Lake National Park for more than 20 years. We have a collection of prints of Crater Lake. This is our third lightning photo in our bedroom!

Artist's Description

Here's a bit of Los Angeles landscape to go with Millie, in this portrait. My favorite part of this is Millie's lips. I feel pleased with the way her color came out on her neck and shoulders, too.

About Eileen Hale

Eileen Hale

My Painting a Day Blog My Art Blog My Website (not yet up) The two primary areas of my art are: 1) my personal art, and 2) animal portraits (and sometimes human portraits) on commission. My personal art ranges from fairly pure abstract work - dynamic, restless and shifting, full of motion and emotion, in watercolor, oils and collage - to work that combines figurative, abstract/abstract expressionist and surrealist styles in the same painting, with a dreamlike mix of content. I love color and flow, and I think my work is energetic, and graceful and refined as well as boisterous, naive, playful and clumsy. My vision is to bring many viewpoints together, in a harmony that is not too settled a harmony; I love the counterpoint as well...
