My wife orders cards for our company. In this case, we used the card as a New Year's greeting and annual "thank you" to our customers. We received an e-mailed scan of the opened card to check that it matched my wife's message and that it was properly centered. I can only attest to the fact that everyone was thrilled with the artistic image and the quality of the card. Unlike many of the business greeting card sites, fineartamerica offers no font, ink color, or envelope embellishment choices. My wife quickly determined that fewer decisions was a good thing--especially when the final product suited our needs perfectly. We were 100% satisfied.

Artist's Description

"Kaikamahine" is from the Hawaiian language meaning "girl or daughter". Every year towards the end of May, the hula is celebrated at the Molokai Ka Hula Piko Festival (Molokai, the center of the dance). To the Hawaiian people, hula means something much deeper than a form of entertainment or a competition to gain reputation. It is their culture and ancient ways expressed in a dance that comes from within, from the center, the piko. The hula originated here on Molokai and every year I look forward to photographing neighbors of all ages who celebrate their culture.

About James Temple

I have lived in Hawaii since 2002, 1200 feet above sea level, on the small rural island of Moloka'i. I appreciate the quiet life after spending 35 years in the advertising/design/illustration business in Chicago and San Francisco. I have always loved cooking. Eventually that love led me to a degree in the Culinary Arts. Since then I have designed and built a house, worked in restaurants, self-published three cookbooks, and took up photography. Now retired, I spend most of my time developing recipes and photographing them, plus researching and writing about Hawaii's culinary history on my food blog at:...
