This is a dock not a pier, you beauty.

Lois Bryan replied:

< laughing > ... well, I spent a good part of my little-kid-hood not far from this very spot. Anne Arundel County, not far from Annapolis. It must be a local or maybe a family thing ... we used the terms interchangeably. All the time. ; ))

Very well captured!!

Lois Bryan replied:

Hi Carol!!!! Thank you so so much ... yes, it's a little swallow, I'm pretty sure .. I love it when the camera sees what I don't!!

You have got to be one of my very favorite artists! I am always inspired! Love the canvas effect! Stunning, Lois! Fave!

Lois Bryan replied:

Joan ... what a beautiful compliment ... thank you so much!!

Great work Lois, wonderful monday!

Lois Bryan replied:

Veikko!!! Thank you so much!!!

What a lovely serene dockside scene... without any people. Hence the title? And I so like the bird flying just above the water in the foreground. Is that what you had missed seing, Lois? I think it's fun when something neat shows up unexpectedly when I look at it on the computer screen.

Lois Bryan replied:

Hi Ann!!! Yes, it was a Monday when I was there ... and I was just amazed that the place wasn't bustling with folks going sailing ... I guess it's a different story on the weekend. And yes, it's the little swallow ... I love it, too, when the camera sees what the photographer did not!!! Thanks so much for dropping by!!!

Excellent capture and comp, with beautiful repetition of elements! F/V!

Lois Bryan replied:

Hi Lynda, thank you!!!! I've always loved these geometrical kinds of things ... lines and angles!!! Glad you enjoyed it too!!

wonderful work Lois without reading the other comments i am going to say the little birdie which looks like a falcon but may be a swallow

Lois Bryan replied:

Mike, that's it!!!! He flew up just as I snapped the shutter ... and actually made it into the frame AND wasn't all blurred!!!! I was so pleased!!!! Thank you!!!!

Awesome post processing with this photo Lois.

Lois Bryan replied:

thanks so much, Jeff ... the light was kind of flat, so it really needed some jizzing up ... glad you liked it!!!

Lovely work. Nice post-processing.....definately submission worthy!!!!

Lois Bryan replied:

Hey Jeff!!!! Great seeing you ... wonderful of you to stop by!!! Glad you enjoyed it!!!!

I saw the sea gull before I looked at the comments. This is terrific Lois. I can't wait for Tuesday Tuesday. You definitely got my vote.

Lois Bryan replied:

thank, James ... I was tempted to put him up a little, more in the sky ... but thought he was kind of fun where he was ... glad you spotted him so quickly!!!!

I like the texture and feel you have created here, Lois! Nice work! v/f

Lois Bryan replied:

Steve, thank you ... and glad you enjoyed the post work ... when I fall into "the zone" I never quite know what's going to happen until it's all over, lol!!!

Such a pretty shot hon and I love your treatment. That tiny birdie in a low right corner is a bonus, lol! f/v

Lois Bryan replied:

Thanks so so much, sweetie!!!!! And the birdie was a wonderful surprise!!!

Can't trust that day. :) Beautiful shot, and the texture you added is wonderful, Lois. Vote.

Lois Bryan replied:

YEP!!!! I was amazed that there was just no one around!!!! There were oodles of sail boats, all tied up neatly to their piers at the marinas ... just waiting for folks to come on down and play!!!!!

Such a spectacular piece of work Lois! f/v!

Lois Bryan replied:

Gary, you're so good to me!!!! Thank you!!!!

Wonderful job on this Lois. Love the textures and the swallow in the bottom corner is a great surprise :)

Lois Bryan replied:

Thanks so much, Lori ... I love it when the camera sees what the photographer doesn't!!!!!

I never received my order, or even a shipping notification. I will have to dispute the charge soon, although I'd still rather have the item. :)

I would love to provide a picture of this product, unfortunately I can't because it never shipped to me and no one at Pixels has been interested in discussing this situation with me despite multiple emails asking for an update.

Worst experience ever. Ordered on 16/08/2017 and estimated ship date was 21/08/2017, it's 06/09/2017 now and there is still no info when item will be shipped. Tried to contact twice via contact form, no answer. Charger supposed to be gift for my father's birthday on 09/09/2017 but you managed to ruin it. Since I tried to contact You via contact form, and got no result. I hope that you'll read this comment and return me my money, since you failed to deliver product which is now useless to me because you weren't able to provide any info for couple of weeks

I bought this for my sister who is graduating soon. She spends a lot of time on her cell phone, and I thought this would be a personal and usefu giftl. The image is a bit dark but over all nice quality. The charger came with some charge (blue light came on). It looks easy to use, and I'm eager to see how my sister likes it!

Artist's Description

NOTE: FINE ART AMERICA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED IMAGE. A quiet Monday afternoon after the hustle and bustle of the boaters' weekend fun at Pirates Cove, West River, Maryland. Image taken July 16, 2012 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Much tnkering in Photoshop including a trip to Photomatix Pro, Adobe Camera Raw and Capture NX2. My thanks to Leslie Nicole for the great textures. There's a little surprise in this image that I missed while snapping ... can you spot it??

About Lois Bryan

Welcome to Lois Bryan Photography and Digital Art. I'm a photographer and digital artist living in the mid-Atlantic area of the US. My photography and photo-based works are based on my own images, unless otherwise specifically mentioned and credited. In so far as artistic processing goes, the photographer and "artist" in me are frequently at war, so that although my goal will always be to catch that perfect shot straight out of the camera, I really do love exploring the artistic and creative process. Often, the image itself will tell me what it wants, and I do my best to comply. I work with Photoshop and other image editing programs on my photos to the degree that in the end the original photo may not even be recognizable. More...
