The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

Montgomery Woods is an old-growth redwood state park here in California, with fascinating beams of light that move across the shadowy forest floor, just asking for prisms to be set here and there, only to have the shadows move again. One such beam of light caught this interesting burl, on which a prism was placed, sending indigo light to the camera for only the briefest time.

My contribution to visual art is "prism photography." By this I mean taking pictures into the direction of the brightly colored light that emanates from prisms. This technique is seen very briefly in some movies, but I have yet to see a collection of stills along this vein, so I hope people see in this something new. My first photos taken this way were at Bee Canyon Park in Southern California, using an Instamatic Camera, circa 1975. Since colored light hitting the eyepiece would usually miss the lens, it was necessary to place the camera to my side where I could see the light hit the camera at just the right place. More recent pictures have been accomplished using a Nikon SLR. Thirty years of chasing prismatic rainbows in this way...
