If you look a second time, you can see that i have taken David Hockney's painting, "My view of Santa Monica" (I think that is the title) and put the letttering and figure over that.
I'm a jouster by nature and I'm challenging David, saying that Hockney's world view of Santa Monica is candy coated.
Santa Monica is littered with homeless people. Too many of them are drunks. This particular guy was asleep on a public bench in front of the library at Ocean Park and Main streets. He was familiar to me. So,I ran home and got my camera....and then to the liquor store and bought the bottle of Smirnoff vodka.
Yes, I'm a little stinker! But that is really letting you in on the inside stuff of how artists have worked forever. Ingres women are anatomically impossible: Michelangelo's women are really men with painted on breasts.
The light was good. I placed the bottle at his feet ...as an offering (to Dionysius?), and shot the photo. I left the guy the bottle. The guy and the bottle were gone an hour later. Maybe he woke up and thought he'd gone to heaven.
