Description
Chumash Indian rock painting, interpreted by the photographer as a portrait of an important man - if not a chief - wearing a top hat or similarly shaped native wear. It may also be an image of a sword thrust through a European invader wearing a top hat. Its true intended meaning or significance is lost to time because it was created before Native Americans adopted a written text.
This image is restored by removing all of the "modern" graffiti scratched into it by several early Californians during the very early 1900s, a time with much different values of today's society.
