Description
I visited Moab briefly in October of 2008, then again in 2013 with my husband, and again in 2015 with my grown adult children. I am enthralled with the rugged beauty of this arid place. Although I took some photos of my own that I intend to paint "one-day" ...this painting is done from a photo belonging to my painting buddy, Michel Reynolds. She paints with me in Lillian Kennedy's Club Tuesday art group, and I did work on this piece while attending a meeting there, though I mostly worked on it at home in my studio. I used a mixture of palette knife and brushwork. This is the first time I ever painted anything rocky, and I was a bit apprehensive about it, but quite pleased with the results. The arch itself has many, many layers of paint, which really makes it pop.

Superb painting Margaret, I have been in Utah 2 times and I enjoyed it so much. Your painting reflect so well the atmosphere of those arid landscapes.
