My father owns the same truck its the same color and everything and it originally sat in grandfather's garage with a gravel driveway until we pulled it out and rescued it and this photo reminds me of that day cause the garage even looks the same too. I will eventually hang it on my wall im remodeling my living room and ima hang it on my wall when it's done to pay respect to my father who bought me my first home and someday he's leaving this truck to me to carry on its legacy.

"Mission Maid" was a veteran B-17G with the 8th Air Force's 457th Bomb Group, based at Glatton in the parish of Conington. Ship 021 arrived in the UK in December 1943, and on New Year's Day 1945 completed her 75th mission. She was one of the few camouflaged Forts to remain with the group into 1945.
Credited with 8 German fighters destroyed, this veteran was eventually declared "war weary" and finished her tour of duty with the Air-Sea Rescue service. Returning to the USA in late 1945, she along with many of her fellow bombers fell to the scrapper's torch at Kingman, Arizona.
Wade Meyers spent his early years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina before his family moved to Bossier City, La. when he was ten years old. After high school, he earned a B.A. in History from Louisiana State University in Shreveport while serving in the US Air Force Reserve at Barksdale Air Force Base. With marriage came a move to the beautiful Birmingham, Alabama area. Diving in head first, Wade quit his job at an aviation museum in 2003 and began to work full-time as an aviation artist. He started accepting commissions immediately, and to this day his work is primarily commission-driven. Along with his...

Another comment on this outstanding painting. I have seen this original oil at the American Society of Aviation Artists international exhibition at the 8th Air Force Museum, and this is one of those paintings that you really should see in person to understand the "wow" effect this art has. The awards are tonight, and I am expecting this to get a top award.
