Mill Mountain is a great place to go anytime but after sunset the view of Roanoke VA is especially beautiful. It's a peaceful place to watch the shadows deepen as the lights come on. Most cities probably have a high vantage point where people like to go and spend time together on special days. Ours has a huge star lit up with different colors for memorable or commemorative occasions. It's part of what makes us who we are. In this view you can see I-81 and Williamson Road, the Wells Fargo/Dominion Tower, the airport and many other Roanoke landmarks. I've heard that eventually all the colors in city lights will be lost to white energy saving "bulbs". Wouldn't it be great if someone could figure out a way to make those with colors!
