Description
Open-top chambers used to study the effects of air pollution on plants. The fumigation chambers produce controlled exposure to the pollutant gas, ozone, which is pumped in through the wide polythene tubes running around the outside. The chamber replicates the present and projected ozone climates, and changes in species composition can be monitored. Photographed at Close House field station, Newcastle University, UK.
