Painting - Acrylic On Wood Box
Description
The "Out of the Box" series addresses racism. In 1900 during the Paris Exposition, W.E.B. DuBois, made the attempt to eradicate racism by showing African Americans as middle class, as physically varied, and as visually intelligent. There is little evidence that it worked, then. Reprising the photographs as paintings on wood boxes that project into space may give the portraits another chance. And will provide some distinguished images that reflect another side of a culture that is usually seen from a limited vantage-point.
