A wonderful capture. Love it.

Great action shot!!!

Bob, since you've explained about this sport, let me ask, are you aware of what happens to these horses when they are injured during rodeo events? When people are injured they are taken care of but when the horses are injured they are not vetted and are sold to kill buyers who ship them to Mexico or Canada for slaughter and end up on dinner tables instead. This is a cruel sport for horses!

Artist's Description

FEATURED ARTIST Rodeo Photography 12/20/2012 A professional cowboy rides a saddle bronc going for eight seconds of glory. What a ride. This rodeo was in Wickenberg, Arizona as part of the Senior Professional Rodeo Association. Each competitor climbs onto a horse, which is held in a small pipe or wooden enclosure called a bucking chute. When the rider is ready, the gate of the bucking chute is opened and the horse bursts out and begins to buck. The rider attempts to stay on the horse for eight seconds without touching the horse with his free hand. On the first jump out of the chute, the rider must "mark the horse out." This means he must have the heels of his boots in contact with the horse above the point of the shoulders before the horse's front legs hit the ground. A rider that manages to complete a ride is scored on a scale of 0-50 and the horse is also scored on a scale of 0-50. Scores in the 80s are very good, and in the 90s, are exceptional. A horse who bucks in a spectacular an...

NOTE: All the images shown are digitally stamped for copyright and theft protection. All images purchased will not have the Fine Art America watermark! A Brownie box camera and a Boy Scout darkroom kit given as a childhood gift started my path and passion for photography. Throughout my life I've carried a camera with me to capture the moment in time. Many of my photographs evolve around family and friends. These remain in a private collection. However, as I've traveled the world, interesting subjects have attracted me and my lens. From the Empire State Building in NYC to the Great Wall of China and everything in between there has been a photograph to be taken. The subjects are as varied as stampeding horses to a stare down with a puma...
