Born in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Nancy was raised in a very active, athletic, and artistic family. She spent her early years in Somerton, PA. involved in many activities including gymnastics, ballet, ice skating, skiing, surfing, windsurfing and racing small sailboats in the back bays of southern New Jersey where she spent her summers. Nancy raced in both the International Moth Class and Laser Class sailboat from her early childhood. She still enjoys sailing as well as teaching sailing to this day. Her father, a gymnastics and sailing coach, along with her mother who was both a sailor and an artist gave her an early start in the things that are now her passion. Along with her very early art training from her mother and others...

Thanks Skip. Some ... but very little especially compared to the time represented in this pen & ink ... very few licenses given from what I understand. AJ Meerwald holds one ... the rest are actual commercial oyster boats ... & there is still at least one working oyster plant in Bivalve. On my list to do a painting of them in action ... good excuse to get a bigger boat. :-)
