I love the artist and usually purchase her originals or prints and have been extremely satisfied with them, but this original and some others were sold so I purchased cards to frame. I have to comment that this card was a little dark and if it could be lightened a little, it would better represent the artwork. The artist is one of my favorites.

Artist's Description
Painting style is abstract. Here I write a first alphabet of Arabic language. Man's supreme status in creation and the connection between him and his higher , spiritual source is symbolized by the letter alif. My work is representation of Islamic culture. As an artist I wanted to fuse my philosophies, ideas. I introduced color and a freer flowing art form. I was also using text to look like texture in the paintings. I felt I had to make it my own and represent them visually. For me, every language is incredibly poetic and expressive. I am translating the rich meanings of the script though my contemporary calligraphy which is surrounded by bright and vivid paint. In all paintings, The calligraphic brushstroke was an approach to abstract painting that focused on the spontaneous gesture of the my hand and was informed by the Islamic calligraphy and Persian art. Painting medium is oil paints.
