Description
This cluster of buildings in eastern Washington state - a house, a barn, a garage, and a shed with a nice grove of trees to shelter it looks like part of a miniature railroad setup, dwarfed as it is by the surrounding fields and rolling hills. This is a late afternoon view from Steptoe Butte State Park.

What a great three dimensional image, Nikolyn - Congratulations on your sale!
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Jurgen. It's the wonderful deep shadows that bring out the contours of the land so well. Best time to be up there enjoying this perspective is early morning or late afternoon :)

You have so beautifully captured this place where I live and love.....I can spend hours and hours in the Palouse. Fantastic image. SE v/f
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Lucky you, Sharon. That country is just beyond belief gorgeous. We only had a little over two days there and we lapped up every drop of the day, rain (one day) or shine (the other day and evening).

I LOVE!!!! My eye wanders the photo to take it all in--the hills, the valleys, the shadows, the shades, the homestead. Marvelous take--marvelous opportunity for a great photo. Thank you for sharing.
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
This area and the view from Steptoe Butte is indeed remarkable, Mary. It's especially beautiful, I think, in the early morning and late afternoon when the stronger shadows danced across the landscape and accentuate the rolling hills, so if you ever get out that way, plan a visit at one of those times.
