This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

About Mona McClave Dunson
Thank you for taking the time to peruse my work. I am an artist, an art teacher and a photographer. My grandmother helped me get started in art by teaching me to paint landscapes with acrylics. I love all media including dryer lint and paper. I am currently working with watercolor in a figure drawing class and I just finished a fun children's book dummy (illustrations).

Mona McClave Dunson
My grandmother taught me to paint with acrylics. The easiest way to learn is to find some postcards or calendars. Sketch them on smallish (9x12) canvas panels. Rule 1: paint the furthest thing away from you first (sky). Then the mountains or cityscape, etc. Go 'darker' with the tones towards the bottom and show more details on the things close to you (at the bottom) I remember asking why I should start at the top. I thought she was going to say something real artsy about background, picture plane, etc. She said, "That way you won't get paint on yourself.". Mainly. it takes a lot of practice. If something is not working, change brushes. Good luck and let me know! Mona
