Meaning behind the art: Setting myself up with challenge today. There are only a few things that I have a hard time giving up…Sugar, Flour, Morning pages and Tack Down Tuesday’s artwork. I had wanted to blow off the time allotted for this process and but after walking the dogs I went up stairs to the studio and I pulled out a demo piece of the printed feather on a white background of watercolor paper. It’s placed off to the side a bit, so I had some room to play into this. I felt that I was setting myself up for a challenge and thought how I can make some out of this. Color was my only choice now. I upped up the scrap bin and started grabbing possible colors I saw in the image transfers. Color and repetition are neck in neck for my favorite elements today. Repeat elements in ways that are pleasing is also a fun favorite to play around with. I had asked a few students a questions a couple of weeks ago, “How important is placement?” and of course, most shared very. How, why and where you place an element is very important if you want to have a good principle of movement in your composition. Mine I now bring drama to the surface but in ways one might not expect. As always my Tack Down Tuesday’s are up for sale and are my stepping stones to the next piece of self-exploration.
