Before my girls were born, I used to begin my creative process with a colored pencil sketch and continued with a watercolor study. Then I used this study to create an acrylic painting. After the girls came along, I didn't have the time to do all that. So that was when I started sketching my subjects with a paint brush in acrylic paint, right on the canvas and finished it. So here is one I did of Plaistow, NH Center before the acrylic.

Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
