Description
Colorized photo from 1902
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Original Title: Richmond & Backus Co, office, Detroit Mich.
I'm not totally certain what this image is, or what it was for,or why they took it, but they reminded me of Sherlock Holmes and Watson. I had to do something with it. The original was a square format, but we didn't need to see more boxes, this office has no cieling.
There is a large glare spot on the window. I thought this was due to the flash, but I think its the light outside, whiich is why I made it yellow. I wanted a noir kind of look, while at the same time obscuring the books a bit, which seem to be about paper. It looks like it was raining outisde, there is a pair of slickers with mud on them in the corner.
The way I made this, or maybe its just the scene, it almost looks like a wax museum now. Its a pity they snipped the feet off of them. I'm betting that huge camera was wedged into the wall, this room looks really tight.
