This card was sent to a dear uncle who is turning 92 this month. He uses a manual typewriter and we thought this was the perfect card for him.

A WREATH OF HOLIDAY JOY!
George Washington commissioned the Portland Head Lighthouse to be built, year of our Lord, 1787. The tower was built and first lit on Jan 10, 1791. This beautiful old lighthouse has been called, Americas Lighthouse. Located in Fort Williams Park, marking the entrance into Portland Harbor. Art is in the eye of the beholder. I will not write in the third person here. That sounds pretentious and, most of the time, inaccurate. Being in the last third of my life, it becomes clear good health is the finest gift possible. Again, nature provides the most beautiful inspirations. Walk into your own garden. Stroll a beach or a path in the woods. Watch the sun and clouds or a kitten playing with a piece of string. Pay attention to the faces you see...they each tell their own story. Create something wonderful that has a piece of your own heart on it. The emotions that drive us human beings also drive our art. The viewer is respectfully reminded my works are copyright protected. Please visit me often. Kindest...

Anne - I enjoy Americana art. I am not much of an art expert, but I guess your work would be classified as primitive. I share your love of light houses and will be in New England this fall and hope to photograph the light houses from Cape Cod to Nova Scotia. I will be sure to include this light in my quest. Niece Piece. Richard
Anne Norskog replied:
Thank you, Richard, for your comments. Those who visit Cape Elizabeth enjoy the experience very much. Have fun on your travels.

Thanks Rat Rod Studios. This lighthouse is the eastern most point in the United States! I used old Coast Guard duty free photos for reference. It took the better part of a week to draw all the details. Glad you like this one!
