I bought this for Christmas for my daughter-in-law who just visited Barcelona. She’s going to love it! It’s a beautiful piece and I really like the print mounted on wood.

Came out sepia color. I may have requested that by mistake. Other than that it’s good.

The artwork is stunning. The mounting on wood was awful and actually damaged the print. Had to be returned due to damage.

This particular scene is from a place very near my father’s house and the memorial bench for his late wife. He himself has taken many similar photographs of this beautiful spot. I love this photograph. I had hoped that having it printed on wood would give it additional depth and character. Unfortunately, the wood grain obscures many areas of the image. I regret not simply having it printed on canvas or having a regular framed print made.

This is simple and elegant and lovely printed on wood and hung next to a Bee by the same artist. We’re Poppy and Beebee to our grandkids so they love seeing them in the guest room.

Artist's Description

Oils on panel 14 x 12" 1999 Finished in 1984. Sold that year. The owner traded it back to me in 1999 for another painting. It was badly nicked and scratched so I had to repair it and update it slightly with my then finer technical skills. My favorite author. There is no color photo of this. My reference is a B & W photo on the back of the book "The Early Ayn Rand". It's a photo of her as she looked just having arrived in the United States from the Soviet Union (she was born in Russia), never to return. Drab dress with a little tear, the kind of dress her here-to-fore prosperous family was reduced to after the Soviets destroyed Russia, nationalizing her father's pharmacy. I imagined all the color, and that surely she would have found a way to put some color, a flower or something in that torn dress.

About Robert Tracy

Born in Lafayette, Indiana in 1948. Married my high school sweetheart, Linda, in 1969. We have two daughters: Gretchen, 1969 and Heather, 1972. Three grandchildren. Served two tours in Vietnam with the Marines: Echo Co., 1st Reconnaissance Bn., '67-'68, and H & S Co., 1st Military Police Bn., '69-'70. I started drawing at age 5. I had a No. 2 pencil and a pad of ordinary writing paper. I'd draw the Japanese Elms in our front yard, my dad's car out front and the corn field across the street. Grass, sidewalk and street etc. The piano keys inside.... My parents saw fit to keep their shy son out of Kindergarten, so I never did learn to socialize. Started 1st grade at St. Lawrence Catholic School at age 5 (just missed the...
