Very beautiful work. I feel drawn to it , like a moment in time. I can breath in the crisp cool air and feel the comfort of the homestead inviting me in.

The Big Sky country of both my father's family homesteading in Montana, and my mother's family homesteading in Nebraska. Wide Open Spaces, majestically captured in this fine painting. Stars there for all to see.

Very pleased with the image, color, printing . My selection of printing onto wood is great for this image. There are a few mildly dark lines which are natural to wood. They show through the image and contribute to the image--glad that none of these was over the face of the horse rider.

Perfect! I wish that you'd included a translation of the two inscriptions in some ancient language that are above the shoulders of St John Coltrane. It would cost your company virtually nothing to supply this with the picture.

Artist's Description

Of the six, this one is still my favorite. Multiple washes got the sky dark and deep, with a few dots of mask for the stars. Working on the many layers of shading and light on the grain elevator is the kind of meditative painting I most enjoy. I may keep this original for myself. We'll see.

About Scott Kirby

Scott Kirby

Visions of the Great Plains consists of drawings and watercolor paintings inspired by the American Great Plains, by Scott Kirby. Referred to as an accidental artist by Sandpoint Magazine, Kirby began painting in 2005, after 9 months of drawing with dual-tip brush pens. Although the attempts to capture these mostly imagined visions are quite intentional, the origins of Kirby's transition from music to art was, in a way, accidental, and unexpected. While drawing with his daughter Sara one afternoon, Kirby was suddenly compelled to continue into the night and following days, being bombarded by mental images which demanded expression. Weeks turned into months, and drawing turned into painting, all scenes rooted in a long relationship with...
