Description
I painted this Colorado farm scene on the Lastoka/Harney Boulder County Open Space property this summer with the goal of entering the county's upcoming plein aire exhibition, I was thoroughly enjoying being surrounded by the cacophony that resulted from the multitude of animals on the property....hundreds of geese, chickens, pigs, horses, goats, donkeys and sheep, While painting, I was struck by the way in which the fence posts along the barn were echoed by the lamp posts that led my eye into the parking lot beyond. The contrast between the old barn and the box store in the background caught my attention, so I painted this poignant statement.

I love the architecture of old barns and this one is beautifully painted; especially like the way you painted the wire fencing. F/L

Beautiful rendering of those tones in the barn and the barn roof, Anne. Love the detail in that mesh fence too! L/F

hahahaha and you said that I draw old buildings so well???? The detail here is fantastic. I love how you depict the shape of that wire fence!!!! P.S. I have an acquaintance who just moved to Colorado, she was very excited about coming out there.
Anne Gifford replied:
Welcome to Colorado to your friend! Thank you for your kind comment, Tony. I stamped white paint onto the fence with drywall tape to get that texture....you could sort of twist the tape every which way.
