When will I get my order???
Luckily for me—someone who doesn’t mind getting up early—sunrise in Spain in January is about 8:30 am! So you don’t have to get up incredibly early in order to photograph some of the illuminated landmarks of various cities. What you do have to contend with is early morning pedestrian traffic, i.e., people going to work while it is still dark! It took some waiting but eventually I was able to photograph Puerta del Puente in Cordoba Spain. The sunrise to the east is starting to show itself in pink from across the Guadalquivir River. Puerta del Puente (‘Bridge Doorway’) is located at the Puente Romano (Roman Bridge) so it is a busy thoroughfare. As is true of many ancient monuments, Puerta del Puente has a varied history! Although it said to be ancient, it likely looks nothing like the original, which was constructed in Roman times. At that time, Cordoba was a walled city and where this monument is today was originally just an access point/door. Little is known about that doo...
