Description
The setup for this painting started with an interesting ceramic pot that student of mine brought to my studio. I found out during the short color studio that two tone ceramic works well with receding and cool background where many adges are soft or compleatly losing definition.
Seasonal gourds brought in extremes of yellows. orange colors and reds in contraposition with viriety of greens.
Overlapping of the objects was pleasing both compositionally and spatially. Perspective was gradual and the depth was shallow and supported small distances for cast shadows that I found pleasing and warm due to the strong natural light located to the right . Cold North light resulted with relatively warm shadows.
Dynamic elements of drapery provided the feeling of arabesque and movement on the left side of composition.
Drapery repeated some color notes from the other objects balancing the color scheme along complementary color scheme of green and red. Some orange tones in the front plane play of the generally blue background.
I used professional Raphael Oil Colors pigments in this painting. It is a pleasure to paint with pure pigments without fillers and additives. Whole painting prices was relatively fast and all prima. Saturation of the pigments is really strong and saves significant time when working wet in wet. Some minor glazing was completed after the painting was completed. Most of the glazing was used in the drapery areas and smaller part of the ceramic.
