This old red barn has a compact look. I love the way it fits into the terrain like the key piece in a little puzzle and the subtle triangles of fields that surround it. Each field is clearly in a different stage, from plowed but not yet planted to fully green; the varying patterns, textures and colors add interest to the scene. In this version a spring rain is falling steadily; however, I have another without the rain; you can find it using a title search: "Red Barn - Palouse". The time and place are springtime in the southeastern part of Washington state.
