I took a photo of this exact scene on one of my many
visits to Red Rock crossing.
This scene has been on many calendars
and one of the most photographed spots in the USA.
I decided to include it in my colored pencil collection.
Red Rock Crossing State Park is located just outside
the village of Sedona, Arizona.
The park is often occupied with many photographers
hoping to catch that perfect light and shadow
combination on the famous Cathedral Rock formation
that is reflected in the Oak Creek.
Paths wind along the Creek where the water really
rushes over the sand and rocks in the early spring
after the snow melts in the surrounding mountains
and flows from the Flagstaff area down into the
village of Sedona before wandering out to this
The red rocks surrounding the area are such a thrill
to see since the magnificent colors are so different
from the other mountains around them.
