This was taken on a quiet street in San Francisco, on one of my many travels there. I loved the blue shadows falling against the siding and the brilliance of the red flowers. Also the composition of the photo.
About Claudia Stewart
I hail from Petaluma, California. I moved to Canada in 1967 andI received my Bachelor of Fine Arts diploma from the University of British Columbia in 1978. For twenty years I lived in Prince Rupert, and in 1992 one of my pieces was selected to appear in the Images and Objects exhibit during the B.C. Festival of the Arts in Vernon, B.C. I have illustrated two children's books; The Princess and the SeaBear and Grey Cat at Sea, both written by Joan Skogan. I exhibit regularly in the annual Artwalk in Port Moody. The juxtapositions of sometimes incongruous elements in my work induces a mysterious, dreamlike quality. I begin with the seedling of an idea, then let the painting inform me during the process.
