Bought this for a friend who loves the beach (like me). She'll enjoy it.

My passion is to express Nature's beauty through photography. I am self-taught and like things simple. Thus, photo manipulation is kept to a minimum. The intrinsic beauty of our natural surroundings does not need enhancing; only revealing. All photos of wildlife have been taken in the wild and involve no staging. My goal is to bring out the character of an animal ... the essence of a leaf ... the spirit of all Nature. "The Sacred is clothed in fur and feathers and scales and skin - It flashes out from shining eyes in darkened woods - And speaks in bird songs and cicada serenades - It touches a place in me where wildness dwells - A long forgotten, hidden place that shivers in sudden resonance." Hi Doris, I was so excited to find your amazing photo this morning! I was enjoying this morning's heat when I saw a ruckus out of the corner of my eye and was stunned to see a red winged blackbird relentlessly diving towards a great blue heron that was wading in the shallow waters of the marsh under the shade of the red winged blackbird's nesting tree. The red wing would give him no peace at all so the heron had to find another place of refuge from the heat. I don't know if this is a common happening in the bird world but will say that I admired the tiny bird's boldness in light of the huge size difference. Wow!
Doris Potter replied:
Hi Deborah, I'm glad you liked my photo. It is quite something to see such a brave bird when it is so small in comparison, isn't it? I think baby red winged blackbirds should consider themselves very lucky to have such protective parents!

Wow, Doris, and how did you train this blackbird to rsvp to your every command? LOL I just love this unique image, as I have never seen anything quite like this before. Maybe it is in love, but doesn't realize its limitations! LOL This is a fantastic capture of something that only mother nature might comprehend. Thanks for sharing this unique shot with us, as it is one of my faves!
