Artist's Description
A cut and paste photo collage. Bits and pieces are taken from a variety of sources, chosen for color, texture and pattern. The process of arranging begins with the goal of creating a cohesive and visually interesting composition. The central image in this composition is the the figure of the mythological Gorgon. The Gorgon had snakes for hair and eyes that would turn to stone those who who gazed into them. Would the Gorgon be turned to stone if they saw their own reflection?

The act of creating art tends to be a solitary endeavor. And, through the years, both Don Aggerbeck and Jane Pederson have explored their individual artistic paths. Don has focused on creating drawings and watercolors that reflect his interests in nature, religion and philosophy, and in architectural designs. Jane has focused her interests on abstractions. She has played with color, textures, depth, light, minimalism, illusions and mark-making in her paintings.
