Reverse psychology, anti-suggestion, and paradoxical intervention are all names for a confusing, manipulating technique when you ask somebody to do something, hoping that he or she will do the exact opposite. Like a big red button in a middle of a dashboard labelled “do not push”.
It may work on children and some stubborn adults, or it may not work at all. In any case, you should not rely on it too much. Great gift for a psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher, or anyone who likes to play with people's minds.
