Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

This is a miniature portrait of "Royal Barb" who died in the early spring of 1999. This is "Royal Barb" outside the southwest corner of the barn waiting to go in for sweet grain and some fresh hay. The afternoon sun of late winter makes for a fiery moment of intense light.
This is one of the three geriatric horses that came with the farm - Barbie Gal with the white blaze and white socks; Sheena with the sway back; and Royal Barb, the mother of Barbie Gal. The kids and I would brush them and spoil them with extra sweet grain. My only problem was that they were hard on the fencing. Sometimes we boarded others horses as long as they fit into the group of three. They were entertaining to watch like big outside cats.
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
