This shopping district in the Sao Bento neighborhood of São Paulo is referred to as Rua 25 de Marco. The items sold here are generally very low priced, counterfeit, and not taxed, and are therefore illegal, though governmental enforcement is only seen during the peak buying season around Christmas. 25 de Marco is a haven for pickpockets, so it is definitely not a place to bring your passport or visa, and I was told not to show my camera here, though I could not resist taking this picture when I looked back up the street that we had just walked down.
