Description
I was visiting my dear friends in Salida, Colorado, on the old ranch where they live just outside of town. My friend Ellen is an artist, too, and she is the one who inspired me to start painting in watercolor. Not only does she do wonderful paintings, but her home and garden serve as her palettes as well, always so rich in color as they showcase her creativity. This is their living room on a cold winter day, and you can see one of the out buildings at the ranch out the window.

I just love this painting, the chair always has a story of the presence of someone even if it is empty, can't help but think of all Van Gogh's empty chairs too; but this one..oh such a fun and marvelous watercolor, so full of interesting things t look at and the kitty cat too FAV+++

This peaceful and happy painting tells such a story Anne. I feel as if I am sitting right there, tea in hand and cat at my feet, looking out at the snow and mountains. I love how you use the bright colors inside to contrast with the cool outside and the window is the portal in this fabulous painting!
Anne Gifford replied:
Thank you, Harriet, for your insightful as always comments. I so appreciate it!

Anne, this painting tells such a happy, personal story an it does it in a vibrant, pattern-filled, light-filled, light-hearted way! I am transported right there and that is the power of a piece of art.
