Trailblazing
Wild waves washed me ashore, face down in the sand,
greeted by Neptune's runes cast forth from the sea.
I lay, exhausted, unable yet to stand,
puzzling the cryptic message awaiting me.
The pattern means nothing, writ in strange shorthand,
no sign, no portent, a lack of symmetry.
Directionless I rise to strike out again,
no compass but my heart my path to ordain.
