Item was lost in transit. Tough figuring out how to contact Fine Art. Finally received 6 weeks after placing order. Then received the original shipment.

I bought this tapestry for my mother who is in the final stages of lung caner. I wanted to brighten her room and bring her some cheer. I paid extra to have it shipped Next Day Air. We received the package 5 days after ordering. However, I was very diappointed at the taperstry when I opened it. It is very blurry and distorted. The fabric is OKAY somewhat thin, but not terrible. I have ordered many tapestries from another company recently as Christmas gifts for 1/2 the price that are way better quality and very clear and vibrant. I will not order again from Fine Art America....

Artist's Description

This is the fourth demonstration piece for "Making Waves on Chantry" 2007. The line of thunderstorms along the main trough of low pressure still remained to the west. I turned my easel around to keep the sun over my shoulder and back. This allowed me to paint the line of sailboats tied up to the private wharf on the south shore of the Saugeen River. The official forecast of "Showers and Thunderstorms" was stillmisguided. The frontal trough was really slow moving contrary to the numerical guidance. I wanted to illustrate the painting of the subject matter by using the negative shapes. This applied to the sailboats, masts and trees. I also wanted to illustrate looking for the colours in the waters and trees. Water is not blue just like all trees are not green. It was fun! I finished this sketch on location around 5:30 pm... then headed for home. It was a great class - the participants where fun and bold painters! Note that the Ojibway term for confluence of the waters is "Saugeen".

About Phil Chadwick

Trained at Queens University as a nuclear physicist, Phil the Forecaster has been a professional meteorologist since 1976. Painting has however been his passion forever. For ten years, he studied under the late Mario Airomi, a famous Italian artist. Phil paints what he knows best: weather, nature, canoes and his family. There are not enough hours in the day to record the inspiration that abounds. Phil paints mainly en plein air striving for impressionistic realism. Something intangible and sometimes magical enters the art when one is actually out in the elements surrounded by inspiration. Bold colours and shapes can be found in the natural world if you only look. Phils art hangs in many private and corporate collections around the...
