Description
In October, 2018, an opportunity presented itself for me to visit Cape Breton Island while the autumn leaves were still stunningly beautiful The place I stayed was a B&B just a few minutes walk to the Atlantic Ocean. My friend that invited me to visit took me first on a tour of the Cabot Trail where we wandered along a few of her favourite hiking trails. The colour and shapes of this island are a never-ending story of beauty and wonder.
On the last day, I had a couple of hours to explore the shoreline near their home, and while the sea had been strangely calm for most of my stay there, the tide was low this time and there were a few little treasures to be seen.
Like this tiny piece of seaweed, only a couple of centimeters long, delicate and strong, lacy and tough. It had withstood the power of the currents and tide of this massive body of water, been thrown onto the rocks, and yet retained it’s beauty and freshness. So incredible.
I wonder how on earth anyone can think that there is not a greater power than we, to have created so much diversity, to have created a world in which everything fits and when allowed, works exactly as it is supposed to? There is so much we do not know about or understand. Wander often, wonder always.
