Secluded home is a colorful, impasto painting of a peaceful setting in the woods. I am especially pleased with the complicated brushwork in this piece. The painting is on stretched canvas and is un-framed. When I was young I spent much of my time in the woods behind our house and down by a nearby creek. I have always been somewhat reclusive and never much of a people person, so I am drawn to scenes like this. I love places that have intense beauty but seem to be in a separate, peaceful world where everything is beautiful and serene. There is so much conflict in the world that I seek to present what is positive and uplifting in my work. I think the exuberant colors and flowing brushwork emphasize this point of view. I personally think my paintings drip with emotion, but it is a visual emotion that is communicated through paint. I am always thrilled when people say they want to touch my paintings!
